Good Evening Parents, students and staff,

This is Joycelyn Cassidy, principal of WOHS with your first Viking Message for the 2024-2025 school year.  For those of you that are new to WO, the weekly Viking message is a method of communicating the upcoming events for the school year. The message is also posted on the school website. 

The freshmen orientation was a success.  I would like to thank all of the staff members that came out to assist and support this event. 

Dates for schedule pickups are as follows:  Junior and Seniors can pick up their schedules on Thursday, 8/15/24. Freshmen and Sophomores can pick up their schedules on Friday, 8/16.  Times for both dates are 1:00-4:00.  Students will be able to submit a request for their schedule to be reviewed for a possible change if they are missing a course needed for graduation, are enrolled in the incorrect level of a course or have a hole in their schedule.  Guidance will not be available to meet with students on schedule pickup days. 

The 2024-2025 Open House for the WO district is scheduled for Thursday, August 22.  Our floating open house will take place from 10:00-2:00.  We look forward to meeting our students and parents.

WOHS Band camp is scheduled to begin July 29.  Please make sure you have your completed medical form with you. 

Our Varsity Cheer team is hosting a Cheer Mini Camp for kids ages 5-12.  The camp is a 3-day camp that begins Aug 12 to Aug 15; 4:30 to 6:30 in the WOHS café.  Information is posted on the website.

Official tryout dates for Fall sports begin July 31.  Fall sports include Cross Country, Boys Soccer, Girls Volleyball and Football.   All 10 pages of the athletic participation packet, must be completed including the physical forms and turned in by tryouts. 

For the convenience of our families and student athletes, Goshen Medical is providing free physicals at several schools across the county beginning July 30; Aug 7; 8; 9 and 12.  See the dates and locations posted on the school website.  The medical participation form must be printed and completed prior to arrival.

Finally, starting next week, checkout the website for “What’s new at WO”.  Information about the OC BOE approved Weapon Detector and expectations for students, parents and the public; student parking, dismissal and clear backpack policy are addressed.  ALL students will need to have clear backpacks and/or athletic sports bags next year.  Students that do not have a clear bag will need to purchase a locker for their backpack.  WO will not supply backpacks this year.
